Expanding on a longstanding partnership, real estate leader Tishman Speyer tapped Spectorgroup to reimagine its latest Studio coworking space. Set in the vibrant cultural core of Manhattan, the design pays homage to the city’s iconic music and nightlife scene, resulting in a dynamic, experience-driven workplace. In response to the evolving demands of today’s workforce and the push for in-person collaboration, the space delivers a flexible, forward-thinking environment tailored to companies redefining how and where they work.
An elevated location.
Located across two floors at One Rockefeller Center, this flexible office and co-working suite offers a range of professional and financial services organizations with an elevated physical location, providing easy access to transportation, amenities, and NYC’s vibrant culture in the heart of midtown.
A variety of settings.
Entering the space’s main reception area, located on the second floor, occupants are greeted by an expansive central working space with an adjacent cafe and pantry area, in addition to a large multi-purpose room and accompanying lounge. The sixth floor features a variety of additional office and meeting spaces, as well as a smaller cafe/pantry area and a dedicated wellness room.
The vibrant spirit and enduring legacy of NYC.
Spectorgroup centered the office environment's concept on the rich history of New York's legendary musicians and iconic nightlife. From Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington to The Clash, Carole King, and The Velvet Underground, the design pays homage to these cultural icons through themed spaces, particularly in conference and phone rooms. Each room subtly reflects its namesake with custom color palettes, bespoke wallpaper designs, and thoughtfully curated furniture. The narrative extends to other areas, drawing inspiration from historic nightlife landmarks such as the Peppermint Lounge, Studio 54, and the Copacabana Club. The result is a space that captures the vibrant spirit and enduring legacy of New York City.
Celebrating architectural heritage.
The design celebrates the architectural heritage of 50 Rockefeller Center by exposing and highlighting the building's original brickwork. This is paired with a mix of wood, concrete, and carpeted flooring in meeting areas and office suites. To enhance acoustic performance, acoustical treatment was applied to the ceilings, complemented by acoustic wall treatments in key meeting areas to reduce noise and minimize auditory distractions.
Fostering community.
Tishman Speyer partnered with Spectorgroup to create a cutting-edge, flexible office space that addresses the practical needs of today’s workforce while fostering creativity, collaboration, and community. By blending historical references with modern design elements, the Studio strikes a balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal, offering a workplace experience that is both dynamic and distinctly New York.
