Multidisciplinary design practice Spectorgroup announced the retirement of Senior Project Architect and Associate Sergio Baluyut after 24 years of service with the firm.

An industry leader in the design of corporate interiors, Sergio leaves behind a legacy of collaboration and design innovation.

“We are endlessly grateful for Sergio’s decades of contributions to Spectorgroup’s success here in New York,” said Principal Scott Spector. “His expert design sensibility and commitment to hard work is unparalleled. We wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.”

Trained in architecture at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Sergio joined Spectorgroup in 2000 as a project architect. His expertise in corporate interiors proved instrumental in guiding iconic projects including the Brookfield Place redevelopment in New York City and the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan dealership. During his time with the firm, Sergio excelled at collaborating with design partners to carry projects through to completion and found endless inspiration for his work in the beauty of the natural world.

“It has been an honor to spend my career working for such a creative firm and to leave my mark on the rich design landscape of this city,” remarked Sergio. “My role gave me the opportunity to work through many engaging design challenges and I couldn’t have asked for a more inspiring group of colleagues to learn from. Above all, I am grateful for the support and guidance of our principal Scott.”

In his retirement, Sergio looks forward to spending more time outdoors, fishing and exploring nature, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
